Materials & Craftsmanship
For Explorer Polar, the GENEVA DIAL workshop selects a substantial AISI 304L stainless steel case with brushed and polished surfaces. Brushing softens reflections across the broader surfaces, while polishing accentuates the edges and complements the polar white and orange. A domed, tempered mineral crystal, resistant to everyday scratches, protects the orange hand against the white background; abrasive materials must still be avoided. The genuine glass Cyclops magnifier enlarges the date aperture 2.5×, highlighting this feature of the dial. Weighing 1.5 kg to 2.1 kg depending on the version, this 40 cm wall clock has a tangible solidity; the 5 mm steel bracket and reinforced anchoring kit must be installed on a suitable wall.

In everyday use, Explorer Polar combines the visual presence of polar white and orange with the quiet operation of the Gen-II Silent Sweep quartz movement. The seconds hand advances in a continuous sweep, without ticking, at a sound level below 10 dB: installed in an architect’s office, it keeps the time visible while preserving the tranquillity of conversations and moments of rest. A 1.5 V AA battery powers the movement for more than twelve months. The photoluminescent hour markers and hands charge under light, particularly UV light, then emit a gradually fading glow; they do not provide permanent illumination. In a bedroom or executive office, positioning it away from direct sunlight also allows the orange hand against the white background to be appreciated without distracting reflections.
